The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Design Contest WIN 4000 POINTS, 20$ AND MORE!I've wanted to hold a design contest for a long time now, and finally I've gathered enough points to do it :D

What I'm looking for:
Everything! Wolves, foxes, fennec foxes, ferrets, servals, bobcats, tigers, other big cats, small cats, deers, dragons, gryphons, dogs, birds, hybrids, original species.. bring it!
I'm leaving the details to your imagination, but here are some things I really like:
-White base color with black and red markings<33 (mostly on canines)
-Cute and fluffy things! No need to go all big eyes and oversized heads, but animals with fur. Creepy and slimy things just aren't my thing.. Still don't be afraid to make something dark/evil
-Anything tribal
-Native american stuff
-Feathers!
-Tawny, golden, brown, white, red, blue, cyan, gray, black (well, not all combined)
-I like more natural base colors, but with smaller markings in unnatural colors like blue or red
-Long tails, big/long
Callibrate your Wacom tutorialHad you  finally  made  the transition from intuos 3 to intuos 4?, or Are you rich to change into an intuos 5? Had you made the transition from a first generation cintiq  to the new ones?. More levels of pressure will mean  more quality to the paintings, am i right?. 
Did you thought that by default the pen will it be like using butter on bread?, you try it for the first time and you love all of it, you said i have sooooooo much control on my strokes im having a blast. Then only  to realize you only have total control of the brush but when you are moving it really slow?. But when you do quick strokes the pressure drops a lot of paint making you redraw tons of stuff?
Did you ever thought that painter its hard to handle with new tablet? Too much pressure? If it has more pressure why i cant control more easier the beggining of the stroke which is more crucial?.

People. I'm not Jamie.

If you'd like to tell Jamie that she's beautiful and gorgeous, I encourage it..... on her page =)

I agree that she's very pretty, that's why I take so many pictures of her lol
But, I put a lot of work into these shoots; I do the make-up, the concepts are mine, I style them, I do the hair sometimes, I take the photos, and I spend hours editing them afterward. I would LOVE to get comments on those things, or even just a simple 'nice shot' would suffice!
When I get "She's hot" "Jamie's the BEST" "She's perfect!" it's kind of.. Well it drives me a little nuts ^^;
I've even gotten personal Notes about how great Jamie is :crazy: Why are you sending me these things.

Awkwaarrrrd.

I know every now and then you can't help but mention the model, I understand, I do it too! Just maybe add a little comment about other things afterward! :nod:

Now, what makes me even MORE CRAZY is when Jamie gets the comments about the photography, the composition, make-up - OMG! :frustrated: Why are you doing this to me lol

I'd also like to extend this to my self portraits. I actually have really low self-esteem, very self-conscious so I can't lie and say I don't enjoy the compliments I get on my looks here, it makes me feel good, but if you could toss in something about the make-up or angles, things like that, I'd really appreciate it :aww:

Not to say that all of you are giving me crappy comments or anything, I do get some really nice thoughtful ones, funny ones too, and I really appreciate those, thanks very much, you make my days =)

Finally posting the new Jamie photos!

I didn't really have a set theme for this shoot, just knew I wanted to do lots of blue eye make-up. I ended up drawing her eyebrows in blue too ^^; added some red lipstick and I was happy. Decided to pull her hair back at first 'cause we hadn't done that look for her yet. She brought her own dress, and I supplied her with some shiny black pumps and we were ready to go.

The photos turned out looking very Mad Men to me, 1960s, so maybe some of you might think the blue makeup clashes with the 'theme', and I understand lol but I'm really in love with these photos, makeup and all - they're some of my favorites I've taken so far! Jamie has gotten quite good at posing, and I took all of these with her fancy SLR camera (only my second time really using it =D). So yay, pat on the back to us both.

(Also an honorable mention to one of my and my boyfriend's dogs Peaches lol)


Jamie will be posting her own set from this shoot. There were so many photos that we each liked so we both have about 20 images to post. Don't worry we won't post them all at once ^^;

Well I think you do a bang-up job on all the makeup and photgraphy you do. :nod:
Also: You're beautiful and hot too, just so you know. ^^;

Some of my favourites of your pics have been because of the feel of the pics, the movement, light and colourful makeup, like the seagrass ones, so if I didn't say it at the time, I'll say it now: bravo on all counts.

I'm under the assumption that a large percentage of DA users do not bother to read the credits / comments left by the original poster & thus blindly comment on what they are seeing (the model, not the photographer).

I've gotten these kinds of things since I started on DA & mostly I just ignore them. I don't want to be a bitch but if people can't take the time to read four lines of text underneath a picture in which it clearly states how the picture was made & with whom then I don't have the time to spend to correct them / care.

That is a very good point, and if I were a less self conscious person and someone who didn't get angered easily, I'd probably do that too lol I try! maybe 40% of the time I don't let it get to me, I just ignore them or even hide their comments haha ^^; But since a good number of my 'followers' read my journals, I thought I could ask them to take notice of these things. Most of them will probably do it for a week or two, then forget and I'll be back to square one but it's nice to have at least a week's peace :crazy:

you know i can see what you mean and how you can be like"wtf" but there are a silver lining to it though is that you made her look that damn good!!( not saying she's ugly cause she's not obviously)

so i can get why its a bummer that people missing the artistic and technical asspic of your photos of her. BUT... if people are noticing her even more because of your photos that shows you have skills!!lol!!
