I recently received an unnecessary comment on one of my photos. Yes, the usual response is to ignore it, or post a non-specific rant about it in my journal lol =) There are undoubtedly going to be assholes on the internet - it's a given, but this particular comment.. made me laugh at first at the immaturity of it, but as I (and my friend Mike) fruitlessly try to reason with this girl (don't ask me why -_-), I feel like bringing it to the attention of you, 'fans' and friends.

This is the photo the girl commented on
:thumb148749918:
Her comment was "wtf? take this shit off here... no one wants to see this."

It's ironic because clearly people DO want to see it, it's got 75 favorites, 57 comments, and over 900 views. So I didn't take it seriously, but her next response was "deviant art is a place to put up ART, not skimpy photos of yourself so guys can drool over it and tell you, you look hot."

It got me thinking, do I have many female fans? I know I have a steady male following, and I know that is in part because of my figure. Male fans - do you simply like my photos because of my boobs? Female fans - well, I would ask if you think I'm skanky, but I guess you don't if you're a fan of mine.. or maybe you like skanky things haha I don't know. Let me know what you think.

Oh, and please feel free to respond to her if you'd like =) It's the first comment on the photo (or the last if you have the order reversed).

I want to say THANK YOU to whoever bought me the subscription, I really appreciate it! Thanks a ton, you are awesome

The next set of pictures will be of me. I took them even before the first set of Jamie photos, but then I had her shoot, and then the silver make-up shoot with Jacqui, and I had a couple retouching jobs so I never got around to editing them. So finally, I have some time to finish them, yay! I'll probably wait a few days to post them since I just posted new Jamie pics.

You can see a phone pic I took during the 'shoot' on twitter [link]
And! You can finally see what my crazy ridiculous set up looks like when I take my self portraits

Aannd I just designed some dia de los muertos themed tattoos for Jacqui that I'd like to post, though I may wait until after she's already got one of them done.
I also have drawings I've been working on (for months, as usual ^^; ) of:
X-Men's Storm
Batman's Harley Quinn and Catwoman
Cloud, Zack, Tifa, and Aerith from Final Fantasy VII
An original character, loosely named for now The Gargoyle Queen

I'll scan some WIPs =)

And that's the art update for now.
Thanks again for the sub, random person

You may have noticed that I tend to be reluctant to comment on your more riské shoots, but then I'm kind of shy and reserved. I was mainly attracted to your page by your seagrass shoot, which another Deviant Photographer I watch (also a girl) featured (so there's one female fan for you). The whole movement and emotion of the picture appealed to me, but, I have to admit, there is a part of me that watched because you're a stunning looking woman, but then, that would be true of a lot of people I'm sure.

And what makes you think that some of your female fans aren't watching you becaus of your looks?

I may be touching on some things already mentioned, but I am, admittedly, ADD and can't survive through rereading every comment you've had thus far (you're far too popular for my feeble mind to keep up with).

Firstly, I'm a fan and I'm a chick. I, in no way, think you're shanky, nor do I think you post photo sets of yourself with any intention of provoking sexual responses from anyone. You're a talented girl, and beautiful as well, and your sets are the result of a photo shoot. You're a model, for goodness sake.

Here's a few reasons I think she might be attacking you:

a)You're utterly gorgeous. Atop that, you take utterly gorgeous photos. I've concluded that she's jealous.

b)You have a fantastic body, as well as, um, ample assets. I've concluded that she's jealous.

c)You probably have a dA watch from her equally immature boyfriend and she's blindingly furious because of her astronomically low self-esteem. Oh, and jealous.

Really, I don't know what this chick's problem is. I'd say there are 'far more offensive' things on this site and others, but I feel like that implies that that photo (or any of your others) is somehow offensive. In my eyes, it's not. I think it boils down to her low self-esteem and issues prompting her to lash out at people she envies. Perhaps she's an attention whore and sees you as a threat. I'm sure this chick seethes while reading Vogue (think of all of that 'competition'! lol).

But that's just my two cents :). No matter what, know you're talented, beautiful, and a hit with the ladies, too! lol

Lol.. yeah, the common theme in these responses is that she's jealous. And as I said to another commenter, I really hate jumping to that conclusion, it sounds like something a mom would say to their kid you know lol but I really can't figure out any other reason in this situation. Though she does have a photo of a cross in her gallery though, so I suppose she could be trying to rid dA of breasts in the name of Jesus :XD:

I do thank you for the fact that you don't think the photo is offensive at all to begin with - and I agree! Some people are just overly sensitive. I would bet money that if I had small boobs, the same picture would not have warranted a comment like that.

Okay, yes; you ARE hot. Just deal with it.
That said, I personally like your gallery because of how you're comfortable with and aware enough of your features to be able to capture your image in the right lighting, framing, postures etc.
And on a more personal level, I just like seeing what other race-mixed artists can come up with. I just feel we have a different view of the world, you know?
Sorry for the rambling...
Good to see you're in good spirits again.

I read through that whole little comment War. I wouldnt even let that bother you. whoever it is, would seem to very low self esteem from the sounds of it, and was just looking for attention. people like that offer no real constructive criticism and just try to make people feel lower then they do for meaningless self satisfaction. its sad to have to see it happen. I happen to think your picture's a wonderful in that, yes you were showing your creativity with makeup but you were putting emotion into the poses as well as just having fun. to bad for her that she seems to be incapable of understanding that. her loss.

Thanks =) I blocked her, I had spent too much time trying to talk sense into her lol

Boobs certainly aren't what drew me to your work. I believe I've said it before, but I think the makeup jobs are awesome and I love seeing how you work said makeup in your photo shoots(dynamic posing/soulful expressions/shadows/etc).

I mean, if I'm completely honest, I did think you were the hottest vampire since that lady in Fright Night II(only your face was visible), but that's only a part of the appeal. But a skank? Honestly, what a ridiculous accusation. It's good that you laughed at it. Considering that most of your photos focus on your face, you're as far from a skank as that girl is far from being comfortable with her own dimensions.

Keep at it!

I'm a female fan! :) And I absolutely love your work! I'm always faving new photos! haha!
You're incredibly gorgeous, always comin' up with new ideas/makeup, and your work pulls feelings out of some of us that we didn't know we had. It's amazing!

Sooo if that girl really felt like that, she needs to keep it to herself! Because i KNOW there are more people to back you up then backing HER up! :)

Please keep up the great work! :glomp:
