Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me.

Sadly I will be alone for this one. Matt had to do a concert he didn't want to do, so I will be live tweeting (humonlazydiva) my impression of the whole shebang.

The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Callibrate your Wacom tutorialHad you finally made the transition from intuos 3 to intuos 4?, or Are you rich to change into an intuos 5? Had you made the transition from a first generation cintiq to the new ones?. More levels of pressure will mean more quality to the paintings, am i right?.
Did you thought that by default the pen will it be like using butter on bread?, you try it for the first time and you love all of it, you said i have sooooooo much control on my strokes im having a blast. Then only to realize you only have total control of the brush but when you are moving it really slow?. But when you do quick strokes the pressure drops a lot of paint making you redraw tons of stuff?
Did you ever thought that painter its hard to handle with new tablet? Too much pressure? If it has more pressure why i cant control more easier the beggining of the stroke which is more crucial?.

Holy Crap Airports Suck 2

So I had gotten a call from the airport in Boston, telling me that they have my bag. The woman asks me if I am in Boston, I tell her that I am on my way to the airport to fly there right now, and she tells me I can pick the bag up at Baggage claim B. I say thank you so much and we're done.

I'm at the airport, about to board my plane (right after I posted this original journal) and I get an automated call from the airport saying they're sorry for the convenience and that they're still tracking my bag. I'm confused, because I already talked to the lady who told me they have it and I have to get on my plane so I just don't worry about it.

I get on the plane - and sit there delayed for an HOUR and a half because of heavy winds, and I have a connection in Texas to get on to get to Boston!! I have to run for my life to the Boston gate when we finally get to Texas, but I make it. We even arrive in Boston 5 minutes early. I go down to Baggage Claim B like they told me to, ask for my bag..........

And the guy tells me that it was flown BACK TO LOS ANGELES earlier today.

WHAT. THE. FUCK!!

They had told me last night when I called them to make arrangements for my bag that they were going to DELIVER the bag to my dad's house in Boston, I gave them the address, the woman was very nice and everything was all set up. Then I get the call this morning saying I can pick it up at the airport. And when I try to, they sent it back to LA!

And the guy is trying to blame it on me, that I told them to send it to LA, that I only gave them my Los Angeles address and that my claim was filed out there so that's where it goes.

WHY would I tell them to send my bag back to California when I need it HERE IN BOSTON, WHERE IT ALREADY WAS!!!!!

So the guy 'sent a note' to 'them' to have it brought back to the airport tomorrow night. Meanwhile, I have nothing but the clothes I wore on the plane to go to my cousin's bachelorette party tomorrow night and EVERYTHING I OWN is in that goddamn bag, including all my makeup for photoshoots.

I better get a free flight out of this bullshit or a complete refund or I'm suing somebody.

AMERICAN AIRLINES!! NEVER AGAIN!!

I'm going to Boston for two weeks, for my cousin's wedding.

So I get to Burbank Airport on time, my 1pm flight is canceled, they don’t tell me why. They tell me I can get on a 9pm flight out of LAX instead. I get to LAX an hour early, but I have to talk to someone at the ticket desk - time is ticking by and the line is not moving. I call over a guy standing around and tell him my situation, and he tells me that I’m too late to check my bag - by FIVE MINUTES. I finally get up to the ticket guy and I’m not getting on a plane without my luggage so I ask what the hell I can do. The guy helping me starts typing, not talking, and hands me a ticket. He says, Okay I’ve got you on standby for a flight boarding in 10 minutes, so hurry up there - the flight goes to New York and when you arrive in NY, you will be put on standby for a flight to Boston.

I’m freaking out, I’m flying alone, he takes my bag and I go up to security check when I realize I really do not want to be in New York with no guarantee that I can get on a plane to Boston, I’d be stranded in a state where I know no one and I’d have to call someone to drive the three hours to come get me. I go straight from security to baggage service to get my bag back but they tell me that in the 15 minutes it’s been that my bag is already on the plane (even though I am not guaranteed a spot on it, it would have flown to NY without me anyway!!).

I ask what the fuck is going to happen to my bag. We work it out that my dad can pick up my bag in Boston (the bag is tagged to go all the way to Boston, not just stop in New York - wtf, my bag would arrive, but I might not), and I ask what time my dad should come pick the bag up - when the lady says, “I can’t tell you that. I can’t tell you that because the flight from New York to Boston (that I was supposed to be on standby for)…. has been canceled.”

…..wow. So I would have arrived in NY and been stuck there ‘cause the next flight was canceled.

So I gave up and went home. Then a HUGE crane fly (giant flying spider looking thing) flew out of my purse and into my face.

It was the day from the deepest depths of hell.

But I booked myself another, over priced ticket to Boston for the next day (today), and I'm actually sitting in the airport right now, not having any problems and they just called to tell me my bag is at the airport in Boston and I can pick it up when I get there. So, so far everything has worked out. I'm in a daze right now, and I miss my money.
