The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Just an update

Blah.. Haven't uploaded anything in a while. Sorry.

I'm in Boston at the moment, having my summer visit even though it feels like winter here - 50-60 degrees and drizzly for the whole week. Depressing. And I miss my boyfriend and cats, and my soft bed, and 24hr 711 =/

It's always pretty here though, at least, very green. I'll try to take some pictures, as usual, but I dono.. I'm never really in the mood when I come to visit anymore 'cause it feels like a hassle. I'd like to take some photos outside, but I don't want to be the crazy girl taking pictures of herself in public. We'll see. If I can actually get my friend to stop being flaky, I may have some photos of someone other than myself to post.

I'll be back in Los Angeles on the 18th and will probably take some werewolf inspired photos then - I wanted to take them here, in the woods, but I forgot this fur thing I wanted to use in them.

I went to the Monterey Aquarium last week and got a few pretty cool photos that I want to upload, but I left them on my desktop so I'll have to wait to upload those till I'm back home as well.

I'm also working on a couple new marker drawings, might have one of them finished before I go back to L.A., and there's a scanner here so that may be my next upload.

And that's the update, I suppose.
